CURRICULUM AND PEDAGOGY

  • is broad in content and is carefully balanced to ensure sufficient depth of study.
  • is designed to take into account all main subject areas, as well as languages and cultural activities promoting the best of India.
  • enables children with musical, artistic, dramatic and sporting talent to develop their skills and excel.
  • provides frequent assessment opportunities through tests and regular teacher and pupil feedback to parents.
  • is differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with particular learning needs.

An effective pedagogy is the basis for a well-structured teaching module. Pedagogy is the science of teaching or education. At, The Lakewood School, our pedagogy focuses on how teaching and learning occur. We use an array of teaching methodologies, which include direct instruction to the child, collaborative learning within the students and inquiry-based learning. Ultimately, we aim to blend consistency and variety in teaching methods by combining established learning theories with innovative practices and programmes. All of which help students improve their learning outcomes and achieve their full potential.

Our Prep school curriculum is based on the British Common Entrance programme: the foundation, which prepares children, in due course, to take the academically rigorous IGCSE and Cambridge A Level programmes. High standards are created through having high expectations. Our syllabus ensures that children have a wide range of learning experiences that challenge and stimulate, thereby promoting creativity, right use of the intellect and a love for learning.

The main subjects taught include: English Language (comprehension, grammar and speech), Mathematics, Science (Biology/Chemistry/Physics), Social Science (including History and Geography), IT, Additional languages: Hindi, Punjabi, French (optional), Art, Music and Drama. Physical Education plays a significant part each day.

The delivery mechanisms followed by The Lakewood School for school curriculum are learner centric in order to make measurable impacts on students lives. Some of the learning outcomes we aim for are:

  • proficiency in academics.
